September 29, 2023 (St. Paul) — This Is Minnesota Orchestra series will include five broadcasts aired on Twin Cities PBS (TPT 2) and on TPT.org during the 2023-24 season, as well as on the Orchestra’s website and social media channels
Twin Cities PBS and the Minnesota Orchestra have announced an all-new season of the award-winning concert broadcast series This Is Minnesota Orchestra. Between September 29, 2023, and June 21, 2024, audiences will have access to four concerts aired live on TPT 2 and livestreamed via the Orchestra’s website and social media channels. In addition, Music & Healing with Sarah Hicks and the Minnesota Orchestra—which was performed and recorded at Orchestra Hall in July 2023—will premiere on air and online in early 2024.
This season of This Is Minnesota Orchestra will premiere at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, in a concert that marks the second week of conductor Thomas Søndergård’s inaugural concerts as music director. Søndergård will present an adventurous program that includes a presentation of Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe in collaboration with the Minnesota Chorale. The 2023-24 season of This Is Minnesota Orchestra also includes the following concerts:
- Music & Healing with Sarah Hicks and the Minnesota Orchestra, coming early 2024 (drawn from a July 25, 2023, performance)
- Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Friday, February 9, 2024, 8 p.m.
- Dvořák Symphony No. 8, Friday, March 22, 2024, 8 p.m.
- Season Finale: Celebrating Pride with Thomas Søndergård, Friday, June 21, 2024, 8 p.m.
The concert programs premiering live on Friday evenings will be available to stream through each respective weekend at no cost to audiences. Concerts will subsequently be released for streaming for PBS Passport subscribers at tpt.org/this-is-minnesota-orchestra.
