Twin Cities PBS Board Chair Rob Sit and Board Members Teddy Bekele and Margaret Murphy Recognized by Twin Cities Business

St. Paul, MN (August 23, 2022) —Three members of the Twin Cities PBS (TPT) Board of Trustees have been honored with awards from Twin Cities Business. Robert Sit, TPT Board Chair, has been named a 2022 Notable Nonprofit Board Member. TPT Trustee Teddy Bekele received the Outstanding Directors Award for his work as a Corporate Director for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Stella Health, and Trustee Margaret Murphy was recognized as a 2022 Notable Woman Entrepreneur.

Sit, Vice President of Research and Investment Management for Sit Investment Associates, joined the Board of Trustees at TPT in 2015. During his time on the board, he has served on multiple board committees, and was elected as Board Chair in 2021. Sit saw TPT through a period of significant transition, including serving on the search committee that selected Sylvia Strobel as TPT’s President and CEO. Sit’s leadership throughout the pandemic was essential, including board oversight of financial growth, board recruitment, and a renewed focus on TPT’s educational mission.

Sit’s guidance was also important to TPT’s strategic planning process and implementation of TPT’s Strategic Roadmap 2030, released in January 2022. The plan, Sit explains, “Honors our legacy while charting a course for us to be an accessible and innovative 21st century educational media leader locally, regionally, and nationally.” Sit has helped accelerate TPT’s goals of accessible, educational, and inclusive programming, operational excellence, an audience-first mindset, and a data-first culture.

“Rob has brought significant leadership, strategy, and financial knowledge to Twin Cities PBS. His leadership has helped shape the future direction of our work, and his impact at TPT during his time on the board cannot be overstated. It is no surprise his efforts and dedication have been recognized in this way,” said Sylvia Strobel, TPT’s President and CEO.

Bekele and Murphy joined the TPT Board in 2022. Bekele is the Chief Technology Officer of Land O’Lakes, leading the company’s digital transformation by leveraging existing and emerging technologies, to discover, implement and deliver solutions and ecosystems. His community leadership includes serving as Chair of the Minnesota Broadband Task Force, Chair of the Federal Task Force on Precision Ag Connectivity, Director on the Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield and Stella Health, Director on the Board of Genesys Works Twin Cities, and MnTech. Murphy is the founder and CEO of Bold Orange Company, a leading customer experience agency focused on helping brands outperform in the marketplace. In 2020 Bold Orange was named a Best Place to Work nationally by Inc. Magazine and locally by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. As CEO of Bold Orange, Murphy acquired RaiseRight, a $1B gift card fundraising platform, in February 2018.

Strobel stated, “Teddy’s award is well-deserved. He has given his time and skills to nonprofit, government, and corporate boards across the Twin Cities. His experience and dedication are helping to guide TPT in expanding our education programming so we can continue to meet the needs of our community.” She continued, “Margaret is one of the Twin Cities leading entrepreneurs, and it is great to see her recognized for her work. We are excited to have her vision on the board at TPT and look forward to the impact her leadership will have as we prioritize building an audience-first organization.”
