Denise Prosek’s career as a classical pianist was sidetracked by the “lucky accident” of a broken arm. She realized that musical theater was a more versatile genre that allowed her to express herself more freely as an artist. Write about a time when a “lucky accident” set you on a path that, in the end, turned out better than the one you were on.
In addition to working for Theater Latté Da, Denise started a songwriting collaborative, Prosody, which encourages new voices to tell new stories through cabaret-style songs. Seek out someone who you don’t usually talk to and have them tell as story about themselves. Can you turn that story into a poem, or even a song?
