Debbie Duncan – Jazz Singer

Writing/Essay/Journal
Jazz Singer Debbie Duncan says, “If you tell yourself something long enough, it actually becomes a part of your life.” For a long time she told herself she wasn’t good enough to write songs. Then one morning she woke up and started writing lyrics. The result was a good song, so she has had to re-train herself to think she IS good enough. What is something that you tell yourself you aren’t good at? Why do you think that? How could you get over it?

Activity
Try something you don’t feel you are particularly good at. Even if the result isn’t what you would like it to be, what can you learn from the process?
