THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

Join Twin Cities PBS for an interactive and physical 90-minute curated “slow roll” bike ride through South Minneapolis with outdoor activist Anthony Taylor and medical professional Dr. Steve Jackson. The bike serves as a vehicle of mobility for communities of color to express freedom in outdoor spaces, connect certain geographic areas and help change the city’s negative narrative. Through storytelling activities at various spots along the route, you’ll discover the history of community trailblazers and changemakers who paved the way despite the barriers of systemic racism. You’ll also learn the health benefits of physical activity for your mind, body and spirit and how being outdoors can help provide healing from historical trauma.

We’ll meet at the Sabathani Community Center parking lot at 5 p.m. for a short program and begin the ride promptly at 5:30 p.m. Loaner bikes and helmets will be available for community members at no cost. The ride will last approximately 70-90 minutes and will end with a free community feast and an opportunity to mingle and reflect. The ride is for all, 12 and up. Parent supervision required.
