U of M researcher Bent Skovmand develops seed banks to preserve germ plasm for posterity. The U of M's Yue Jin was among the last researchers working on stem rust until Ug99 developed. Because stem rust had been under control since Borlaug, complacency set in, leaving wheat crops vulnerable to new diseases. Many scientists feel the world needs a new Green Revolution.
