Rose Ensemble: Harmonies Across Time

This program will introduce viewers to The Rose Ensemble, an internationally acclaimed Twin Cities-based vocal group whose intimate and powerful performances illuminate centuries of rarely performed repertoire. Specializing in early music, this twelve-person ensemble preserves, perpetuates, and celebrates centuries of human expression with historical instruments and a vocal sound critics have called “supernatural”. The Rose Ensemble: Harmonies Across Time will feature footage from rehearsals, performances, and classroom workshops, as well as interviews with the ensemble and its artistic director, Jordan Sramek, The breadth of the ensemble’s repertoire will be celebrated in music that ranges from Gregorian chants to 19th century Hawaiian songs to Shaker spirituals.
