About Poustina: The Art of Gendron Jensen

Gendron Jensen draws bones. Detailed, precise, wondrous, wakeful images of bones. Called a forest eccentric, a technical virtuoso and a romantic visionary, Jensen conjures art from nature and his meticulously rendered, often monumental drawings compel us to look into nature – beyond the ordinary – to a deeper, more spiritual realm. Gendron Jensen died July 23, 2019 at his home in Vadito, New Mexico after a battle with a rare bone cancer. “The irony of that diagnosis was not lost on him,” said filmmaker Kristian Berg. “He said, ‘All we can do is laugh, Kristian.'” He will be honored posthumously with a lifetime achievement award and an exhibit at this year’s Taos Fall Arts Festival..
