Melissa Loop challenges the traditional form of landscape painting.
Melissa Loop’s landscape paintings challenge the collective conscience of some of the world’s most iconic and beautiful places. Inspired by the Hudson River School notion of traveling to the scene of the painting, Loop took a recent trip to Belize, allowing her to see the stunning landscapes first hand. By incorporating unrealistic elements such as fluorescent paint drips and neon ribbons of color, Loop turns the traditional landscape painting form on its head, and gives intentional imperfection to her distinct paintings.
