Weaver and textile artist Kelly Marshall dazzles us with her command of the loom. More

Kelly Marshall's bright and exuberant textiles are a perfect blend of function and form. From rugs and pillows, to whole sets of furniture, she shows us the process behind choosing colors, patterns and textures for her fiber art. Artist Bio: Kelly Marshalll's explorations in pattern, color, texture and mathematical proportion are the basis behind her unique fiber designs. Marshall fell in love with weaving during her first year at the University of Minnesota, and continued her training in Sweden at the Forsa Folkhogskola and in Belgium at the Belgian Lace School. Marshall's time in Europe has clearly influenced her custom design work here in the States. She started her own studio with an intensive internship program designed to pass down the skills she had acquired via Europe's long, rich history in the medium. Her company Custom Woven Interiors, now in its 18th year, offers geometrically designed textiles for both residential and commercial settings in the Twin Cities. Marshall has been the recipient of awards such as Best of Show in the Des Moines and Milwaukee Arts Festivals. Her work is also featured in permanent collections at the American Swedish Institute and Minnesota Historical Society.
