David Marquis & the Midwest Art Conservation Center in the Minneapolis Institute of Art
An artist for over ten years, David Marquis was well-prepped for his role as lead arts conservator at the Midwest Art Conservation Center. Marquis handles everything from small paintings with sentimental value, to recognized masterpieces like Van Gogh's Olive Trees. When he's not being hoisted up to the State Capitol ceiling in Saint Paul, he's in the basement of the Minneapolis Institute of Art performing the painstaking task of restoring valuable works of art. Working as a conservator requires a depth and knowledge of art and art history, but also chemistry and the ability to problem solve.
