The Minneapolis Institute of Arts boasts one of the world’s preeminent collections of traditional Chinese furniture and it is displayed in some historic rooms which have been meticulously reconstructed inside the institute. In this Twin Cities Public Television program, Asian Art curator Robert Jacobsen takes the viewer through the process of acquiring and displaying this exquisite collection, including a trip to China to secure and restore two rooms before dismantling them and shipping them to the Institute. The program concludes with Jacobsen showing the furniture in its proper context, explaining the lifestyles of the people who used these beautiful objects.
