About Frankenstein & The Vampyre

A fascinating exploration of one of the most significant moments in gothic history – the night when Mary Shelley, Lord Byron and their cohorts gathered together at Lake Geneva to tell ghost stories and the night when Frankenstein and the modern vampire were born. On June 16, 1816, trapped inside a villa by thunderstorms lashing across Lake Geneva in Switzerland, Byron challenged his party of young bohemians: his fellow literary star Percy Shelley, his girlfriend Mary, and her step-sister Claire, and young doctor John Polidori, to a ghost story competition. Their confinement was to change their destiny and the course of literary history forever.
