Katherine Newman is Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and has served on the faculties of Princeton University, Harvard University, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University and the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Newman is the author of many books on on poverty and economic mobility.
