Construction begins on the Berlin Wall, further dividing the residents of East and West.

In cloak-and-dagger style, the provisional Wall is erected thus turning the Charite into border territory. The hospital’s staff react in differing ways, but they must continue to provide care. Prokop returns from Vienna with troubling news.
