Civil War Homecoming

No video available - find out why

A view from Minnesota on the war and its aftermath. The first half of 1865 was a turbulent period in American history, both around the nation and here, in the new frontier state of Minnesota. To honor that period's 150th anniversary, a team of all-star musicians, storytellers and performers (including Dan Chouinard, Kevin Kling, Maria Jette, T. Mychael Rambo, Prudence Johnson, members of the Roe Family Singers, the Brass Messengers and more) revisit 1865. Using songs, stories, letters and newspaper accounts, the team explores how Minnesota endured the Civil War, dealt with its aftermath, and grieved over the loss of Lincoln.A production of the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force, and Minnesota Public Radio.
