In Memory of Raghavan Iyer

April 3, 2023

April 3, 2023 (St. Paul, MN) – Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is saddened to learn of the death of chef, cookbook author, and educator, Raghavan Iyer. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his loved ones and all those touched by his kindness and generosity.

TPT is grateful for Iyer’s collaborations over the years. The James Beard award-winner hosted Asian Flavors in 2013, documenting the rise of Asian cuisine in Minnesota. He also appeared as a guest chef on Relish, demonstrating how to cook smoky yellow split peas, and he was recently profiled on Almanac, where he discussed his life and final cookbook, On the Curry Trail: Chasing the Flavor That Seduced the World.

Iyer was known as an advocate for Indian cuisine and dedicated his career to educating others about Indian dishes and flavors. As Joy Summers of the Star Tribune writes, “Iyer will leave a legacy among chefs and home cooks.”

We invite you to keep learning from Iyer through the videos below.
