Paul Shambroom – Photographer

Writing/Essay Journal
Paul Shambroom says that finding an idea for a project is more of a challenge than mastering the photographic techniques necessary to execute it. He follows strong feelings, passions and fears to decide what to pursue. Write about a theme you would pick if you could do a photographic project or book. Explain why you feel strongly about your subject and what you would hope to say with your photos.

Activity
Paul Shambroom photographed nuclear missile sites to confront his childhood “boogie man,” the Cold War. Tackle one of your fears by facing in head on. In small groups, have a conversation about your fears. Once you have isolated a single fear for each participant, talk about some safe ways you can face your fears.
