Objectives: Photographer Eric Mueller is a “minimalist trapped in a maximalist’s body”, and is an active member of the photography community and Instagram. Learn about his daily photograph project, 366 Things I love, and create your own photo diary using elements of photography.
Tools/Resources: iPad apps: Camera, Book Creator, and a photo editor, like Prisma or Adobe Photoshop.
1) Watch the segment and discuss:
a. Why would doing a daily photo journal be interesting to a photographer?
b. What are some things you would like to take a photo of? Why?
2) Daily activity for a month (ideal):
a. Take a photo with the Camera app, participants can choose to edit it either using the editing feature of the camera or using photo-editing software like Prisma or Adobe Photoshop.
b. Using Book Creator, embed the photo on a new “page” every day, have participants write up a daily entry about that photo in Book Creator answering these questions:
i. What do you think about this photo?
ii. What do you see in this photo?
iii. What do you notice in this photo?
iv. Explain your choice of editing
