Amy Baur and Brian Boldon use complex fabrication techniques in their collaborative effort to get the viewer to observe the world in the present moment and to see ordinary things in a new way. Pick an “ordinary thing” you see every day and write a diary entry from the point of view of that object. Describe what it sees, hears, tastes, touches, smells, and what emotions it feels.

Activity
Using Brian Boldon’s 3D Chair as a model, draw six sketches of your object from different angles and points of view. Then make a piece of art that combines all six views into one coherent drawing or sculpture. How does this exercise inspire you to view that object in a new way, if at all?
