Suicide is an urgent health care crisis touching far too many Minnesotans in the agricultural community each year. TPT’s FACING SUICIDE project aims to elevate and destigmatize the topic of suicide; offer an important message of hope and healing; and empower communities to help those who may be at risk.

This FACING SUICIDE event features the Question, Persuade, Respond (QPR) class taught by Emily Krekelberg, Extension Educator, Farm Safety & Health, University of Minnesota Extension; a screening of excerpts from TPT’s new documentary, FACING SUICIDE; and a Q & A with NAMI Minnesota suicide prevention staff.

Attendees will be empowered to:

  • recognize specific signs of suicidal behaviors in themselves, friends and family members,
  • feel equipped and empowered to broach the topic of suicide safely,
  • and connect immediately to appropriate care

About QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER (QPR) SUICIDE PREVENTION FOR AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITIES presented by NAMI Minnesota
NAMI Minnesota and the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH) are partnering to provide suicide prevention classes tailored to farming communities. Our aim is to change the public perception in agricultural communities and better equip the community to identify and help people who may be having thoughts of suicide. We offer a 1.5 hour suicide prevention program called QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) to help individuals learn the three steps anyone can take to help prevention a suicide. These workshops are made possible by a grant from UMASH.

About FACING SUICIDE, a new documentary from Twin Cities PBS
