Capitol Dome Tour Back in January 2011 there was an awful lot of scaffolding around the Capitol so David Gillette took us on a behind-the-scenes tour of the work being done up in the dome. Capitol Restoration Tour Back in March 2012 David Gillette crawled around the Capitol building and showed us all of the damage behind the walls and above the ceilings. Capitol Renovations Move Ahead Long-awaited full restoration of the State Capitol starts up in the summer of 2013. Mary Lahammer showed us the beginning of the huge project and gave us one last look at the large, lush Capitol mall. Capitol Renovations During Spring Break Construction crews took advantage of the legislature's 2014 spring break and spent the time making more noise and mess than usual, especially underground. Summertime Capitol Construction By the summer of 2014 most of the Capitol is an active construction zone, with the sound of jack hammers in the background as historic artifacts are packed up and many offices, including the Governor's, are closed. Session 2015 in the Capitol Construction Zone As lawmakers prep for the beginning of the 2015 legislative session, the majority of public spaces in the building are closed and a new commissioner is overseeing the renovations.
