EcoFutures - Meet The Team: Teréz Iacovino

June 7, 2017

Name: Teréz Iacovino
Biome: Sub Tropical
Plant name: Sansevieria Trifasciata

Q: What artistic mediums do you practice?
A: Sculpture, installation, and printmaking

Q: What is your first memory of a plant?
A: Making wishes on dandelions that have gone to seed.

Q: What was your favorite plant growing up?
A: I always loved pussy willows during wintertime because of how their buds felt like velvet.

Q: What interests you about the plants you selected for Northern Spark?
A: I was interested in this particular “snake plant” lineage to well known American painter Grant Wood.

Q: What is your favorite Northern Spark memory?
A: Last year a friend and fellow artist, Joshua McGarvey, projected a work called Ice Fall-Feel the Change. You viewed the massive projection by lying on angled cots, almost like being inside the Gravatron at the fair. There was something so immersive about this piece coupled with laying next to a stranger that really stayed with me.

Q: When was the last time you stayed up until 5:26 a.m.?
A: Probably last Northern Spark!
