The first round of sales tax rebate checks are in the mail. The amount of the rebates is about half of last year's rebates, but more people will receive them. Visit www.taxes.state.mn.us to get more information about your rebate.

Mpls. Schools get tough on attendance
Later this month the Minneapolis school board will consider implementing a tougher attendance policy which will require all kids to come to school 95 percent of the time. Lou Harvin speaks with Judith Farmer, Board Chair for the Minneapolis Public Schools and recent Henry Sibley High graduate Illiana Vega about the proposed policy.

Basketball clinic teaches conflict-resolution
Ava Brown and her son Bobby, crusaders for tougher gun control laws will be in the studio talking about a basketball clinic they host annually to help at-risk youth gain conflict-resolution skills.

Attorney General Mike Hatch announced a settlement of a national lawsuit concerning price fixing by pharmaceutical companies.

Spies in Steel
Duluthian Tom Selinski wrote, produced and directed "Spies in Steel: The Dolar a Day Man," an independent film about industrial spying on the Iron Range in the mid-20th century. He joins Lou Harvin in the studio to talk about his film and its upcoming screening at the Minnesota History Center.

Face to Face
Ciresi, Janezich and Dayton, three of the DFL senate candidates, particpated in a debate held at the PBS Eight Studios in Duluth yesterday. We'll get a sneak preview of the debate covered by the "Face to Face" crew which airs this weekend on TPT.

Deputy Chief Bill Jones of the Minneapolis Police Department will be in to speak with NewsNight's Lou Harvin. Officials believe protests are expected as the University of Minnesota hosts the International Society of Animal Genetics conference later this week.

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig is in town to meet with the Minnesotans for Major League Baseball advisory group. The meeting coincides with efforts to create a competitive balance throughout the league.

Join us for a one-hour Minnesota Citizen's Forum debate with the 4 major DFL candidates for Senate. The debate will be hosted by WCCO's Eric Eskola and TPT's Mary Lahammer. The candidates will answer questions from a group of citizens gathered at 4 sites around the state linked by videoconference to TPT studios in St. Paul.
