Minneapolis artist Richard Saholt has spent the last 35 years creating stark, disturbing, "psychotic art" - collages that chronicle his life from childhood through his World War II experiences to his longtime struggle with mental illness. As part of the Prairie Island compromise, a plan's afoot to use turkey droppings as fuel to generate electricity. While some consider the idea innovative and efficient, critics argue that the stores of manure used as fertilizer will evaporate, stranding farmers. When he was a very young child, author Jim Van Amber's life was turned upside down when his mother was institutionalized, diagnosed with schizophrenia and subsequently lobotomized. She never returned home and the now-grown Van Amber has spent years sifting the past, searching for the truth about his little-seen mother. Tonight, Van Amber joins us to talk about his book, "Regina's Record" - the story of his mother's illness and a chronicle of his efforts to discover the truth about her.
