Carei Thomas' Neighborhood Ensemble perform Gi-Go in tpt's Studio A. Artist Bio: In 1993 Carei Thomas came down with a debilitating neurological illness that left him almost paralyzed. He staged a courageous recovery with the support and energy of his band members Brock Thorson and Gary Schulte. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Carei was born in 1938 and remembers listening to Charlie Parker, Billy Holiday and the Ravens. But it was listening to Woody Herman's Early Autumn while cleaning wall paper in the living room that swept him into the world of jazz. Now in his early seventies, Thomas creates compositions that are playful, vibrant and reflect the energy that he himself inspires.
