Rare Concert Featuring Paul McCartney's New Album
Paul McCartney, at the forefront of the rock 'n' roll revolution that changed popular music forever in his early career with the Beatles, has continued to push boundaries for more than 40 years as a solo artist, a member of his second group, Wings, and an award-winning composer for classical music and dance.
Great Performances joins McCartney for an intimate concert recorded at the historic Capitol Studios in Los Angeles airing this Friday at 8 p.m. on tpt 2.
A few hours after the long-awaited addition of McCartney's star to the Hollywood Walk of Fame drew a traffic-stopping throng to pack the stretch of Vine Street in front of the famed Capitol Records building, McCartney took his place behind the same microphone that had captured so many of the most magical voices of the past several decades for a one-time-only concert event.
McCartney and the assembled musicians had never performed this material live, adding to the evening's electricity.
They performed from McCartney's latest venture -- Kisses on the Bottom, a collection of standards beloved by McCartney since childhood, along with two of his own new songs, "My Valentine" and "Only Our Hearts."
The show will also feature performances of such standards as "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," "It's Only a Paper Moon," "Always," "Bye Bye Blackbird" and more.
Check out a preview below of Great Performances: Paul McCartney’s Live Kisses and be sure to tune in this Friday at 8 p.m. on tpt 2.
