How Will Baby Boomer Retirement Impact Public Safety?
Minnesota is about to change dramatically. The state’s 1.3 million baby boomers started to retire in January 2008 and that trend will continue over the next two decades.
In short, this aging group will demand more expenses (medical assistance, long term care), while bringing in a lot less tax revenue.
The next hour-long episode of the Redesigning MN series is titled “Margin of Safety” and airs Friday, August 17 at 8 p.m., after an all-new Almanac.
This episode explores the question -- with less tax revenue, how will state, county and local governments adapt one of the most important services they deliver -- public safety?
Host Don Shelby walks Minnesotans through the dramatic facts that state and local officials must face from everything from police to prisons.
A website has also been created to go along with this series of eight documentaries that focus on redesign in Minnesota. You’ll find it at www.redesigningmn.org. Plus, join a live conversation about redesign at www.incommons.org.
Be sure to watch the second episode of Redesigning MN this Friday at 8 p.m. on tpt 2 and check out a preview below.
