Groundbreaking Minnesota Arts Series Celebrates a Milestone in 2013
St. Paul, Minn. (January 15, 2013) – The New Year is, invariably, a time for self-reflection. No less so than for the award-winning Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) production, MN Original. This New Year, tpt has something big to celebrate and a true accomplishment to note. TPT is proud to announce the premiere of their 100th episode of original locally produced arts program MN Original on tpt2 at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
The show, which premiered in 2010, highlights artists and arts organizations throughout the Twin Cities metro area in a weekly 30-minute program airing on Sundays on tpt 2. The series has gained nationwide recognition for celebrating Minnesota’s vibrant creative community across all disciplines and all cultures. Since 2010, MN Original has featured nearly 2,000 artists, nearly 200 organizations, almost 100 experts and more than 1,000 partners/collaborators. MN Original has also been the recipient of 24 regional Emmy® Awards in their three-year history.
“MN Original has been a passion project for many of us at tpt for years,” says Dianne Steinbach, Executive Producer of MN Original. “We felt the need for a local arts show for many years prior to MN Original’s inception. We couldn’t be more thrilled that through the support of the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and the people of Minnesota, we have been able to produce and maintain such an excellent show and are immensely proud to be premiering our 100th episode.”
MN Original’s 100th episode features internationally known fine-art photographer JoAnn Verburg, Chilean-born sculptor Alonso Sierralta, and percussive dance ensemble, Rhythmic Circus.
MN Original airs weekly on tpt 2, Sundays at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., on tpt LIFE, Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. and on tpt MN, Mondays at 7 p.m.
