The new travel-based music series MUSIC VOYAGER features host Jacob Edgar exploring thriving, exotic global music scenes to discover emerging talent. Edgar - an ethnomusicologist, cultural musician and music critic - travels all over the world to hear cutting-edge musicians and immerse himself in their cultures. In the series' first episode, Edgar ventures to Mumbai, Delhi to create a hit Bollywood song with vocalist Sona Mohapatra and meet Kailash Kher, one of India's most prolific performers, producers and musical stars. Kher also brings the members of his hit band Kalisa into the studio for a private, intimate performance with Edgar. Other episodes include journeys to Jamaica, New Orleans, New York and Chicago.

The host is musician Tacuma Bradley who explores the Atlanta landscape while following the six degrees of separation between the people he meets. These include musicians Christian and Brand Bush, who brings them to the neighborhood of Buckhead for an unplugged performance at a local cemetery. They are introduced to their friends Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics. Ruby's music sets the tone to explore the funky and artistic Five Points neighborhood. Ruby introduces them to the feisty Myra, who owns a boutique cuisine shop called La Fruta. Myra then takes them to the Elevate Festival in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Finally, an introduction is made to Killer Mike, a local hip-hop legend and activist who brings Tacuma to his barbershop/community center to experience a concert with Killer Mike and special guest Big Boi from OutKast.

The Bahamas - Junkanoo Celebration
Their journey to the The Bahamas begins in Nassau, the capital city, during the annual Junkanoo celebrations that take place between Boxing Day (December 26th) and New Year's Day. During this period the city explodes with vibrant color and celebratory music, as revelers dressed in elaborate costumes parade down the streets dancing to the African-rooted rhythms of Bahamian music. The energy is infectious and the Music Voyager team find themselves wanting to learn more about the roots of Junkanoo and what it tells about the history and people of The Bahamas. They visit the Junkanoo Museum, try on a traditional costume, and even join in a rehearsal, trading licks with the Colours marching band. An exploration of Junkanoo takes them into the mysteries of the past, yet also demonstrates how the people of today's Bahamas are working to keep their own unique traditions going strong far into the future.

The Bahamas: Raking and Scraping Across The Island
This archipelago of beautiful tropical islands has long appealed to musical explorers in search of sonic treasures. In this episode, they travel to Cat Island in search of the roots of rake and scrape, the local music style Bahamians call their own. After a beach-side performance by traditionalists Bo Hog and the Rooters we head to Grand Bahama in search of Stileet, a new generation rake and scrape singer who is bringing urban attitude to the style. Then they explore the roots of spiritual music in The Bahamas with a fireside performance by multigenerational acapella group The Region Bells. From there, Shabak, the most popular contemporary gospel group in The Bahamas, gives them an uplifting performance in a beautiful 17th century cathedral. Along the way they learn how to carve up a conch, attempt to fish for their supper, and sample the intoxicating drink known as The Gully Wash.

In this episode of Music Voyager, they explore the impact of music from The Bahamas on popular music around the world. Musician Fred Ferguson gives a tour of downtown Nassau while describing the enduring impact of Bahamian folk music and icons such as Joseph Spence on the world's sound (Did you know, for example, that The Beach Boy's "Sloop John B" is a Bahamian folk song and that The Grateful Dead always ended their set with a song from The Bahamas?). They discover the important role The Bahamas played during the Calypso era from the 1940s to the 1960s, as well as its essential role in the history of funk, soul and disco. They then meet up with The Baha Men, whose song "Who Let The Dogs Out" was a worldwide smash. Finally, they meet up for an impromptu dance party in front of a conch stand with D-Mac, thier pick for the next big international star to come out of The Bahamas.

Tel Aviv, Israel's biggest city, is a vibrant and striking blend of old and new. From the ancient port of Jaffa to modern skyscrapers and trendy nightclubs, Tel Aviv is the epicenter of Israel's arts scene and most of the country's top musicians live in and around the city. Music Voyager host Jacob Edgar meets Ehud Banai, the revered singer-songwriter who hails from one of Israel's most important musical families. Ehud invites Jacob to a mountaintop park overlooking the Tel Aviv skyline, where he performs his song "Caananite Blues." We then meet Karolina, a hip and popular singer with an outstanding head of hair and a voice to match. Karolina takes Jacob around the artistic and picturesque Neve Tzedek neighborhood, culminating in an intimate performance in her living room. He visits musician, producer and remixer Kutiman, who reveals the secrets of his famous YouTube mashups. Jacob's quest for the best hummus in Israel ends at Tel Aviv's legendary Abu Hassan restaurant, where hungry throngs assemble for a taste of their beguiling garbanzos. Israel: Songs From The Holy Land
Music Voyager host Jacob Edgar travels to Jerusalem and northern Israel to discover the sights and sounds of a region rich with ancient history and religious significance. Israel is a land of contrasts and conflicts: between tradition and modernity, war and peace, spirituality and secularism. The popular band Hadag Nahash blends hip-hop, funk and soul with politically expedient Hebrew lyrics to draw attention to the complex issues facing Israeli society. The band gives a stripped-down performance at the picturesque Mahane Yehuda market in Jersualem, then invites Jacob for drinks and conversation at the lead singer's pub. He visits leading Shephardic singer Yasmin Levy at her home on the outskirts of the city, where she performs songs in the Spanish-derived Ladino language. Leading singer-songwriter David Broza invites Jacob to visit a village devoted to peace between Arabs and Jews. Broza performs amidst the vines of his family winery then takes Jacob to an informal jam session with Palestinian musicians in East Jerusalem. He travels to the Galilee region of northern Israel for a visit to Tzfat, an epicenter of the mystical Kaballah and the world's largest klezmer music festival. Next, Jacob journeys to the ancient and scenic port of Akko, before meeting up with Israeli star Mosh Ben-Ari for an unplugged performance in the magnificent Roman Theater at Caesarea. Mosh takes Jacob to his home and farm where he learns of his love for the land and the importance of agriculture in the history and identity of Israelis.

Israel: Voices From The Desert
Host Jacob Edgar travels to Israel to attend a once-in-a-lifetime concert of The Idan Raichel Project at the foot of the magnificent "Solomon's Pillars", a natural rock formation in the Negev Desert near the Red Sea resort city of Eilat. Idan Raichel, an internationally renowned star of the Israeli music scene, serves as his guide. At the technical rehearsals and sound check for the desert concert, Jacob meets the artists featured on stage. Idan performs with Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade on the edge of a stunning cliff. Ravid Kahalani performs in an unplugged session with members of his side project Yemen Blues and talks about the unique history and music of the Yemenite community. Cabra Casey, another lead voice in the Idan Raichel Project, introduces the fascinating story of Israel's Ethiopian immigrants. He also meets Palestinian-Israeli singer and television actress Mira Awad, who has recorded with Idan Raichel. She reflects on how artistic collaboration can lead to a hopeful future for Israel and the region. Then, Jacob interviews Idan while floating in the salty waters of the Dead Sea. Next, Idan and Jacob travel to Jerusalem for a visit to the Wailing Wall and a magnificent private home overlooking the Old City. The episode culminates with a song featuring the full project from the live concert in the desert.

Known as the capital of country music, Nashville also is home to some of the world's top singer-songwriters and rock and pop bands. Host Jacob Edgar receives a personal tour of Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Opry by country superstar Vince Gill. Then, he sees Elizabeth Miller perform at a funky bar in East Nashville, the bohemian district home to many of the city's musicians. He checks out Music Row, the epicenter of Nashville's music business, to visit Compass Records and then tour Gruhn Guitars, which supplies vintage gear to the world's top musicians. He hears virtuoso banjo player Alison Brown demonstrate her musical talents and then visits the legendary Bluebird Cafe, where Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift started their careers. Then, he stops in at the home of Jamie Johnson from the bluegrass band The Grascals for a moving performance of their hit song "I Am Strong". And finally, local songwriters Gabe Dixon and Casey Wasner, contemporary blues singer Keb Mo' and indie rock band Those Darlins prove there is much more to the Nashville scene then country music.

Memphis: Memphis Mojo
Memphis has played an important role in the history of blues, rock and roll and soul music. Host Jacob Edgar witnesses the meeting of young and old when blues veteran Bobby "Blue" Bland jams with 17-year-old guitar wizard Will Tucker. The elder statesman schools the young Tucker in the finer points of the blues, before a scorching performance at the B.B. King nightclub on Memphis's famous Beale Street. Brandon Bailey's unique blend of harmonica with beat boxing illustrates blues' new directions while blues-rockers North Mississippi All Stars jam at one of Memphis' hippest record stores. Jacob arrives in Memphis during "Elvis Week", an annual remembrance of the "King of Rock and Roll" centered on the anniversary of his death. He visits Sun Studios, where Elvis made his first recordings, and discovers the Bluff City Backsliders, the band of the studio's current sound engineer. He attends the candlelight vigil in front of Graceland, interviews some of Elvis' most devoted fans and enjoys a gospel tribute by the Spirit of Memphis Gospel Ensemble. Later, he explores the sound of Memphis soul music with The Bo-Keys and a visit to the Stax Museum. Young singer-songwriter Amy Lavere demonstrates the diversity of the contemporary Memphis music scene, while up-and-coming hip-hop stars Freesol, recently signed to Memphis-native Justin Timberlake's label, discuss the local urban sound.

Eastern Tennessee: Cradle of Country Music
Host Jacob Edgar begins his Tennessee journey in Bristol, the city in the northeast corner of the state that proudly calls itself the birthplace of country music. He visits 96-year-old Georgia Warren, the last surviving participant of the legendary "Bristol Sessions" of 1927, which introduced the sounds of Appalachia to a wide audience. While in Bristol, he catches a street performance by musical nomads Megan Jean & the KFB and checks out Knoxville-based The Black Lillies performing at one of Bristol's many outdoor concerts. Jacob also explores the Bristol Motor Speedway, where he tests out a pace car on one of NASCAR's most exciting tracks. From Bristol, Jacob heads to Knoxville for a visit to the legendary "Blue Plate Special", a live radio program featuring the best in local music. Singer-songwriters Scott Miller and R.B. Morris show Jacob around their hometown. He also learns more about the evolution of Appalachian music through an unplugged performance by up-and-coming country stars The Roys. Finally, he passes through the revitalized city of Chattanooga, home to the New Binkley Brothers, and meets local dulcimer wizard Dan Landrum, who performs with the country rock band Yarn.

Afro-colombian Grooves
From Cartagena's gorgeous old city to the rough and tumble streets and beaches of La Boquilla, this episode of Music Voyager provides entree into the beauty, rhythms and culture of this colorful city. Colombia's beautiful Caribbean coast gave rise to cumbia, the iconic Colombian rhythm now popular in nearly every corner of Latin America. Host Jacob Edgar discovers sights of Cartagena da Indias alongside Toto la Momposina, one of the most respected figures in Colombian music, who performs with her band on the beach as local children dance along. Cartagena also bounces to the hot sound of champeta, a blending of contemporary African styles like Congolese soukouss, Nigerian Afrobeat and South African mbaqanga with Latin and Caribbean grooves. Champeta star Louis Towers performs in the bustling Basurto market, and producer Lucas Silva guides Edgar on a tour of Cartagena's famous nightlife. Later, Charles King takes Edgar to hear the popular and extremely loud Rey de Rochas sound system.

Host Jacob Edgar's journeys through Colombia reveal the country's amazing geographical, cultural and musical diversity. This time, his travels take him from the ranches and farmlands of Valledupar through the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range and on to the Caribbean coast. The small city of Valledupar is the cradle of vallenato, a rustic, folksy and distinctly Colombian music style. There, Edgar meets Fonseca, one of Colombia's biggest stars, who has incorporated the vallenato style into the tropipop sound he made famous. He meets with the Rey de Reyes (King of Kings) of the accordion, attends a wild street party, visits a restaurant that serves unusual wildlife and joins the adorable Los Ninos de Vallenato for a performance in the city's main square. Next, he travels to a small coastal village to meet with a former paramilitary soldier-turned-vallenato-singer, who serenades from a fishing boat in the picturesque harbor. Finally, Edgar ends up in the port city of Barranquilla, where steamy, tropical Afro-Colombian beats dominate the music scene. At a rehearsal for Barranquilla's famous carnival, singer Erika Munoz gives an impromptu performance of her African-influenced sound. Colombian legend Joe Arroyo performs with his full 14-piece band in a commandeered library.
