GLOBE TREKKER transports viewers to unforgettable destinations through its stunning photography, rhythmic indigenous music and spirit of adventure. In each episode, one vibrant young traveler ventures off the beaten path to soak up the local culture, sample the cuisine and revel in breathtaking vistas. In keeping with their aim of "living as the locals do," charismatic hosts Ian Wright, Justine Shapiro, Zay Harding, Megan McCormick and others explore everything from big-city landmarks to exotic sights in remote villages.

When you think of Barcelona, you think of the architect Gaudi, and Megan visits some of his most famous creations, including El Park Gu ell, Casa Batllo and the spectacular basilica, Sagrada Familia, still under construction more than 120 years after the first brick was laid. Megan also takes in the works of artists Picasso and Mirp, enjoys the colorful atmosphere of Las Ramblas, shops at the Barri Gotic, explores the mysterious magic shop known as El Rey de La Magia and takes day trips to Cadaques (home of Salvador Dali) and Sitges, known as a favorite destination for gay and lesbian travelers from all over Europe.

Papua New Guinea Islands
The trekkers explore New Britain Island, the largest in the Bismarck Archipelago of Papua New Guinea. Inhabited by the indigenous Papuans and the Austronesians, the island was captured by the Japanese during World War II. Today the island's traditional cultures are diverse and complex but there are several ancient traditions which remain active today, especially the Dukduk Secret Society. Next, we visit the township of Rabaul, once the provincial capital until it was destroyed in 1994 by a massive volcanic eruption. Rabaul is still a superb location for scuba diving, snorkeling and wreck dives. Capping off the tour is the stunningly beautiful island of Bougainville, named after a French navigator, and an excellent location for wreck-diving and sea kayaking.

Zay starts his journey in Austin, where he explores everything from rattlesnake hotdogs to bingo with chickens. He then heads south to San Antonio for a visit to the Alamo. Following a night in the most haunted hotel in Texas, Zay travels to the border city of El Paso. After meeting the locals, he treks into the surrounding desert to travel along the old Butterfield trail.
